For 3D lettering I use MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard), which is better suited for solid color paint selections but if you'd prefer natural or a stained look I would then use Birch Plywood. There are exterior wood/material options available as well and additional thickness of MDF & plywood. Along with a wide variety of fonts and colors you can also choose a floating font with no background, a standard framed board, a wood round or any other shape you can think of such as the rippled edge or Mickey head. Possibilities are endless
